Flax History

{Awareness and knowledge of the value of natural fibers must be spread}

flax’s tales are ancient in time and history. And his story goes back to a long time. It is believed to be one of the oldest agricultural crops. Archeological excavations, remains of flax yarn, ropes and fishing nets from the Neolithic period were found in Switzerland. Fossils have been found in Spain of antiquities from the Bronze Age. Also, the remains of flax fibers were found in a cave in Georgia dating back to 36,000 BC.
Also, the remains of flax seeds were found in archaeological sites in Syria more than 11,000 years old. Likewise, in Iraq and in Iran, there were remains and traces of seeds dating back more than 10,000 years.
flax traces were also found in Italy, Greece and France, dating from 2000 to 8,000 BC.
We also do not forget the civilization of the Pharaohs, or the ancient Egyptians for more than 7000 years, because they knew the value of flax fibers and the value of seeds and the oil extracted from it was appreciated and cared for. They used flax fabric in everyday life and in embalming. Pharaonic and stone drawings show the presence of flax and its production stages.

flax is now grown on almost every continent of the world, but in varying proportions. Flax is grown to extract oil from the seeds. Or to extract fibers from the stems.
Flaxseeds are yellow and brown in varying shades. The color of the oil also differs in color according to the way it is extracted, whether it is cold or hot.
The cultivation and manufacture of flax requires effort, patience, and almost daily follow-up. The flax flower has a distinctive shape and is light blue despite the presence of other varieties with white or yellow flowers.
